AUGUST 2015: LOCAL BOY INSPIRED BY TURBINES

This model of a wind turbine under construction was created by seven year old Callum Fenwick, who has been fascinated to see the turbines going up at Wryde Croft Wind Farm.

Callum Lego ModelCallum’s grandparents, Sharon and Alan Bingham, live in Gedney Hill and have been helping Callum to view construction progress safely from various vantage points around the wind farm site during the summer holidays.

Alison Jones, RES Community Relations Manager, says: “We have received photos and paintings of our wind farms before, but this is the first time anyone has created a 3D model of one of our sites. It’s a really accurate representation of a wind turbine under construction, and I really love the crane.

"Callum obviously has a great eye for detail and a keen interest in construction and engineering. We hope that Wryde Croft Wind Farm will inspire other young people to take an interest in what is involved in delivering a renewable electricity project.”

With school term starting in September, teachers might like to take advantage of the free educational activities available from RES which cover different aspects of renewable energy generation and have been developed by RES’ Education Officer to support the national curriculum. The activities include teacher notes and activity sheets and can be downloaded from www.beaufortcourt.com
